하지만 상품화로 가는 길은 결코 평탄하지 않았습니다. 당시 제조 공장이 있던 폴란드는 사회주의 체제의 관습과 잔재가 남아있어 국가 간 교신과 소통이 상상할 수 없을 정도로 어려웠습니다. 한국에서 폴란드 공장까지 원료를 보내는 과정마다 수많은 행정적, 문화적 장벽이 가로막았습니다. 이때 중간에서 헌신적으로 다리 역할을 해준 사람이 바로 저의 독일 친구였습니다. 그는 한국과 폴란드를 오가며 수십 차례 소통을 이어갔고, 수많은 실험과 샘플 테스트, 시행착오를 거치며 제품을 완성도 있게 다듬어 나갔습니다.
이러한 우여곡절 끝에 2000년대 중반, 저는 독일 파트너의 초청으로 마침내 폴란드의 저그 생산 공장을 직접 방문할 수 있었습니다. 현장에서 마주한 생산 라인은 우리가 흘린 땀방울의 결실이었습니다. 우리는 마침내 완성된 'Biocera Antioxidant Alkaline Jug'를 미국 WQA(수질협회) 전시회와 AQUATECH 등 세계적인 무대에 당당히 선보였습니다.
시장의 반응은 가히 폭발적이었습니다. 출시와 동시에 캐나다, 미국, 영국을 비롯한 북미와 유럽, 그리고 아시아 전역에서 주문이 쇄도하며 전 세계인들의 건강한 음용수 문화를 선도하기 시작했습니다.

In the early 2000s, South Korea was swept up in a massive craze for alkaline hydrogen reduced water. At the time, the Korean government (KFDA) officially recognized alkaline reduced water ionizers as medical devices, clinical proven to alleviate four major gastrointestinal symptoms: hyperacidity, indigestion, chronic diarrhea, and abnormal fermentation in the stomach.
Amidst this technological boom, I envisioned a solution that pursued the purity of nature rather than relying on artificial, electrical electrolysis. By integrating Biocera’s proprietary alkaline ceramic ball technology into a convenient pitcher-style filter, I succeeded in developing and commercializing the world's first portable reduced hydrogen water pitcher, branded as the "Return Jug." The name "Return" signified our core philosophy: returning to nature's original, healthy water.
Immediately after its development, I introduced the Return Alkaline Filter Jug at the International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago. It was there that destiny called. I came across a beautifully crafted water jug from a German company, a discovery that opened the gates to the global market.
Shortly after, a dear German colleague—who later became a lifelong friend—began rigorous laboratory testing in Europe to measure the filtration process, focusing on how Biocera balls generated alkaline magnesium minerals and antioxidant hydrogen. During these experiments, a groundbreaking scientific discovery was made. At that time, Europe was suffering from severe groundwater contamination caused by agricultural nitrates (NO3). Remarkably, the testing revealed that the toxic nitrates in the contaminated water were reduced into Nitric Oxide (NO)—a beneficial compound well-known for expanding blood vessels and used in treating cardiac diseases and erectile dysfunction—after passing through the Biocera filter. Inspired by this incredible scientific breakthrough, we officially launched and established the brand "Antioxidant Alkaline Water Biocera."
However, the path to commercialization was filled with immense challenges. The manufacturing facility was located in Poland, which at the time still retained rigid bureaucratic habits and communication barriers inherited from its socialist past. Conducting international business and coordinating logistics was extraordinarily difficult. Shipping raw materials from South Korea to the Polish factory required overcoming endless administrative and cultural hurdles.
Throughout this grueling process, my German friend worked tirelessly as the crucial mediator. He bridging the communication gap between Korea and Poland with unwavering dedication, overseeing countless rounds of raw material shipments, rigorous lab testing, and sample evaluations. Thanks to this painstaking collaboration, the product underwent multiple iterations and refinements.
After overcoming these numerous hardships, I was formally invited by my German partner in the mid-2000s to visit the production plant in Poland. Seeing the manufacturing line operational was a deeply moving experience. With the finalized product in hand, we proudly introduced the Biocera Antioxidant Alkaline Jug to the global stage at major international exhibitions, including the WQA (Water Quality Association) Convention in the United States and AQUATECH.
The global market response was nothing short of explosive. Upon its debut, the jug gained instant popularity, sparking a massive sales boom across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Western Europe, and Asia, fundamentally transforming how people approached healthy hydration.
